Fred Ellis
General Manager
Fred Ellis has more than 23 years experience in the high-tech industry. Prior to joining SecureMedia, Fred was Vice President and General Manager at Oak Technology and Xionics Corporation (acquired by Oak Technology). At Xionics, he held the role of Vice President of Product Development and was responsible for engineering, QA, OEM services, and product marketing. He also served as the company’s Director of Multifunction Product Development, which was the focus of the Xionics’ IPO. Technology developed by the division included client-side software, embedded firmware, controller-level hardware and a 600k gate ASIC. Prior to Xionics, Fred was Director of OEM Services for Phoenix Technologies, where he led a custom engineering organization that was responsible for the development, support and delivery of OEM-embedded printer software. Fred studied Electrical Engineering Technology at Northeastern University.
Whit Jackson
Business Development and Studio Relations
Whit Jackson has 20 years experience in television distribution, communication technologies and services. His role at SecureMedia includes overseeing the development of strategic partnerships, major account management, and serving as SecureMedia’s liaison to the Hollywood studios and major pay TV programmers. Whit joined SecureMedia after ten years at Macrovision Corporation, the leading provider of copy protection and media security technologies, where he held the positions of VP Music Copy Protection, VP Encryption Technologies Group and Director of Video Encryption Systems. Previously, Whit served as Business Manager at Hughes Communications, where he negotiated satellite transponder leases with major broadcasters, cable programmers, corporations and radio networks and also worked on the DirecTV pre-launch business planning. Whit has also worked with a number of cable television Multiple System Operators. Whit holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Northwestern University
Paul Osborne
General Manager and Director of Engineering
Paul Osborne has 15-years experience in the ASIC and EDA industries. In addition to being General Manager of SecureMedia, New Zealand, Paul has additional responsibilities as product development director. Prior to coming to SecureMedia, Paul held the position of Synopsys Product Manager & New Zealand Country Manager for Reptechnic. There he was responsible for all commercial and technical activities across the Austral-Asian region. Previously, Paul managed the ASIC development group at Tait Electronics, New Zealand’s leading mobile communications provider. Prior to that, he led Synopsys’ Northern European technical team, where he was responsible for all technical activities across the UK, Eire, Benelux and Scandinavia. Before moving into application engineering, Paul was an ASIC design engineer for GEC-Plessey Semiconductors & Fujitsu Microelectronics, and was lead engineer on one of Europe’s first VHDL-based ASIC’s. Paul holds a Master’s degree in Microelectronics System Design from the University of Southampton, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of Bath.
